Basicily this topic was created to lay down some points I feel people should think about when creating a character.
This will be more based like if you were playing an RPG style namely tabletop style like D&D
also most of this will focus on more or less the characters combat virtues and vices.
1. There is no such thing as the perfect character.
Ok simple start to explain but your character needs to have some flaws as well as strengths but the flaws have to be valid saying some thing like losing is the characters weakeness is just a sign you shouldn't take the character seriously.
2. Choose your class Warrior, Mage or Rogue.
I know this is more game specific but when you RP fight you need to think about what your character is capable of.
Is the character Strong phyiscally and preferes to hit someone in the face with an axe (Or something else), Or is does the character possess an adept knowledge of the magical arcane or is your character a stealthy rogue who waits for the chance to strike.
I know its a bit hard to class your character and there is alot more hybrids of these
But if you try to relate out of these 3 main skill trees where your character fits best then you can use it as a guide to see where your heading your character down and what limitations you might want or need to apply as well as what you might wanna amp up.
For instance a Warrior will be physically strong would be strong in melee combat but his ranged defense will be lacking.
a Mage will be more realiant on ranged magic based attacks and will want to keep out of a fight as much as he can.
and a rogue is a jack of all trades but will need to use his wits to beat both.
3. My character can do anything he wants
Your character can do amazing things but please try to think logically with them.
A character who has fire powers is most likely not gonna like the idea of fighting underwater or even near water.
Many times have I seen people with certain powers and such just walk right into there weakness and not even consider what it would do to them.
And even some characters ignore certain attacks because its not the specific weakness they have.
A water power character getting hit by fire will hurt provided that the character is out of the water and has no fire protective counter measures are in place at the time of the attack.
Same goes for people doing impossible feats like having enough power to contain a nukes blast and reverse all its damage on the characters power alone.....yeah you get me.
or the personal favorite of pull chaos emeralds out of no where and going super sayian just to get out of a pinch
4. My experiences define me.
Your characters will go through a lot and even as you make your character you make its back story and for that it already tells some things that your character is capable of and is good at as well as reveal flaws and weakness's.
So say your character is the son of a merchant - Due to this instantly tells the boy will have a natural gift of charisma increasing his ability to make money and buy goods as well as charm other people with his skills of speech. It may not be a huge buff but it gives a small boon to the characters traits.
Or say the character is of royalty which would be considered a huge boon due to the education and lifestyle and even the status alone grants buffs depending on the characters kingdom.
That said though due to the character being brought up in a respectful and safe enviroment away from the general population means that the character may not have seen a lot of the darker side of life meaning they're mental and phyiscal ability to deal with fights and the horrors of life is more likely to be effected by this.
5. Its my body. (Gentics man)
It amazes me that a character that weights less that 20kg can lift a solid 110 kg character with ease.
Right unless your character has a certain strength level physics are gonna apply hard here and even with strength phyisics come first.
If you have a small skinny character they are not gonna be built to take a punch to the face very well by natural phyisics.
They are built to run dodge attacks more easily as well as be light on they're feet
Just like a stocky character at 6ft is gonna be more robust but slower.
Also Race effects the character as well.
Say your character is a Canine this means they are more likely to be more agile and have higher senses of smell and hearing.
or your character is a reptile of some kind which means it is meaning its likely to have a higher regeneration rate and posibly underwater breathing or failing that longer breath and maybe even resistance to fire.
This is just some points I feel like putting out there to you guys and I know there is a lot more to say but I will leave some of those points for you guys to discuss
