REBOOT IN PROGRESS: UNDER HEAVY CONSTRUCTION

 Biography:[]

"Heather of the Moor" (or simply Heather) is the daughter of Queen Wind Through Whiskers and her mate, Fang Across Bone and, the rulers of the Lycato Tribe (pronounced Lɪ́-kay-toh). Having an older sister and being second in line to receive the crown, Heather was content with her place in the royal bloodline. She had the power and authority of a royal figure, yet none of the duties. She was free to choose to do whatever she wanted in life, which just becoming a warrior and letting Jasmine lead the tribe. When Jasmine decides to step out of the royal blood line to become a shaman, Heather is forced to take up the crown, something she spends most of her life trying to avoid.

Personality:[]

Being Royalty, you would expect Heather to carry herself with an aura of grace and dignity, maybe with a hint of snootiness. But actually, she is as far from poise and proper as you can get. Heather's most known for her outgoing and extroverted personality that makes her the center of attention at any social gathering. She is very physically social, she loves hugs and has zero sense of personal space, often comically (though unintentionally) knocking others around by bumping them with her ample bosom and hips.

Despite her age and upbringing, Heather is filled with youthful energy and is often quite immature and unladylike, engaging in childish antics with the older boys of her tribe. Many consider her 'one of the guys' as a result of her willingness to embrace acting stupid and getting into mischief. While not a proclaimed feminist, she doesn't let being a girl dictate the way she should carry herself and will actively contradict societal standards of her gender and her social status. Some of her more notable traits include wearing battle armor normally worn by the royal guard rather than dresses and tiaras, loving the thrill of battle, snoring loudly, having poor table manners, and being a shameless flirt and an absolute drunken disaster.

Don't let her more masculine traits give you the wrong idea about her; Heather is fixated with maintaining her own beauty, to the point of being self-absorbed. She may not be opposed to jumping into a mud puddle and wrestling one of her friends to prove she is the strongest, but when she dolls herself up, she goes above and beyond. Makeup must be perfect, every strand of her mountain of hair must be in place, and she adorns herself with as much jewelry as she can cram with any given outfit. Pity to the fool that fails to properly answer when asked how she looks, and even more so to the fool with the gall to even suggest someone else is on the same playing field as her. Because she will correct you in the most humbling and painful way possible.

It's true that Heather has some wild characteristics to her, but one trait that often goes under the radar is her love for nature, probably the only thing she loves more than herself. She can spend hours on end becoming one with the flora and fauna around her and has a deep connection with them, being able to understand and speak with them as if they were sentient like her. You'll often find her gossiping with the tulips, listening to the tales of the eagles, sharing wisdom with the great oaks, and laughing with the chipmunks. Her love for nature and its beauty is so important to her that the very sight of people polluting brings forth an immense rage and seeing nature be destroyed physically weakens her. Heather may be a foolish drunk and an egotistical narcissist, but underneath that larger than life personality is a heart that refuses to give up and not see anything except the chance to make every day better than the last. She is a protector of the Planet and its people, strong in both body and spirit, and she never misses the chance to have just a bit too much fun.

Appearance:[]

Heather is commonly portrayed as one of the most beautiful members of her tribe, second only to her mother, and tied with her sister Jasmine. She carries around a large spear with a three-point head and a white ribbon tied to the hilt. She is tall and has almond-colored fur, with a curvy, yet athletic figure. She is a bit big boned but claims that she just has an unusually long coat that makes her look chubbier than normal. However, her gluttonous and alcoholic tendencies seem to support another reason for her 'fluffiness'. Her muzzle, ears, and tail tip are amber colored, and her chestnut hair flows all the way down to her mid-thighs when let down, though she usually keeps it in a sporty ponytail. She sometimes wears her family crown, a three-point ornament with a large jewel in the center and two smaller ones on each side.

Heather is the tallest member in her tribe, standing 4'6 while her mother and older sister are only 4'2 and 4'4 respectively. She also has a slightly bulky physique that more closely resembles those in the warrior class than those in the royal family.

Amongst her tribe, she wears her tribal attire: a single sleeved white top, a green cloth tied around her waist, brown sandals that go up to her knees and raspberry-colored leggings. Outside the tribe, she wears a long-sleeved, leaf shaped combat dress with the left sleeve removed and a white ringlet tied to the right, as well as a pair of black biker shorts underneath. She sports a dark green breastplate with gold accents, a similar armor piece on her right shoulder, tall black combat sandals with white laces, long black gloves with some of the fingers exposed, and golden bracelets and jewelry on her left side.

For casual wear, she wears a sleeveless cream-colored shirt, orange pants, and a green shawl wrapped around her waist. She keeps her black combat boots but trades the armor pieces for simple golden wrist gauntlets.

Relationships:[]

Family[]

"Remedy for the Body" (Mama Remedy): The tribe's sharp-tongued shaman and mentor to Heather's older sister, Jasmine. She is the cranky grandmother to the rest of the tribe and uses her skills and herbal knowledge to keep everyone in their best condition. During her time as the shaman, she used her skills of prophecy to instruct the Lycato royal family in times of need. While she was primarily Jasmine's teacher, she served as a babysitter and source of guidance for Heather and her siblings while they were growing up. Remedy spent a lot of her time with Heather due to the young girl's vain nature and disregard for responsibility and was the one who prophesized that Heather would take up the crown, despite her sister being the first in line for it.

One of the lessons that Remedy stressed to Heather throughout her childhood was to "open her ears and listen when Mother Nature speaks to her." Heather didn't realize what this meant until she was much older, but she discovered that she as well as the entire Lycato tribe had lost their connection with the Goddess as a result of widespread vanity, laziness, and their self-idolizing nature.

Unfortunately, Mama Remedy dies right before the Great War, but she quickly returns as a Spirit Guide that Heather can call upon in times of need thanks to her abilities granted to her as the standing Queen of the Lycato.

Wind Through Whiskers/Fang Across Bone: Mother and father respectively.

Jasmine Which Smells Heavenly: Heather's older sister. She's perfect in nearly every way and has an aura of maturity that makes her seem older than she is. Heather envies her older sister's wisdom and cool headedness in the face of troubling times, but also her ability to be so admired and loved while not actively doing anything at all.

Flora/Fauna of the Earth: Her twin younger sisters. They are troublesome and nosy, always getting Heather in trouble with their antics but never receiving any blame for it. Heather finds them bratty, but lovable.

Gojiberry That Nourishes the Mind: Her baby brother who she loves to put makeup on. Gojiberry (shortened to either Goji or Berry) is loved by all his sisters who will often argue and bicker over who is his favorite. He is fairly indifferent to them all for the most part and is known to ignore or walk away from them when they get particularly noisy. He actively judges Heather though, much to her dismay He has done this since he was an infant, giving her blank stares when she tried to play peekaboo with him and attempting to jump out of her arms whenever she tried to hold him. Berry doesn't hate any of his sisters, even Heather, he's just a bit more cynical and judgy compared to the average Lycato and Heather is unfortunately just a victim of his disapproval.

Friends[]

Aynoa the Porcupine: Heather's teammate, closest gal pal, and most trusted friend. Aynoa's carefree and free-spirited nature reflect the life Heather wishes she had so the two mesh well. Whenever Heather can slip away from the kingdom, the two will spend their evening shopping and catching up on gossip.

Rusty the Porcupine: While Jay and Rusty are generally considered the two troublemakers of the group, Jay must be coerced into getting up to no good whereas Heather needs to be coerced not to. The two share the same lack of self-control and the ability to think before they leap. They are also drinking buddies despite Rusty being underaged and almost a third of her size. Needless to say, he can never outdrink her.

Jay the Warbler: Heather and Jay both have a connection to their earth with their Gaia and Wind magic respectively and Heather will often train Jay on how to better use his magic. They will also join forces in Environmental-Protection projects thanks to their shared love for nature.

Esmerelda the Dark: Initially, the two butted heads the way Rusty and Recon did. While Heather is loud, boisterous, and extroverted, Esmerelda is eerie, crafty, and dishonest. Even after Rusty convinced her that Esmerelda was a vital part of their team and requested that she be given a body, Heather was doubtful. After the events of the New Beginning Arc, Heather and Esmerelda have become great friends.

Recon the Wolf: Lover and future husband. Growing up in the Lycato and Wvelven tribes, Heather and Recon respectively were raised to not trust each other. When Heather's destiny required her to venture out into Wvelven territory (which ended up costing Recon his position as kid prodigy and member of the clan) the two weren't on the best of terms. But through their adventures, Heather eventually falls in love with Recon and the two entered a Romeo and Juliet relationship. After the feud ended between the clans, she and Recon used their relationship to bring the two groups closer together.

Abilities:[]

Enhanced Strength: Heather always had uncanny strength, even as a child. As a toddler, she would 'play' with her dad by repeatedly lifting him over her head and tossing him into the flower beds surrounding their home. As she grew, so did her strength, and even as an out of shape, bumbling drunk, she can hold her own against several of the Lycato Royal Guard, who are specifically trained to defend the Queen with their lives.

Chi Powers: Heather can use different Chi spells or 'Chants' which have many different properties from healing to locating other individuals to self-defense. Obviously, since these spells come from her life energy or that of the living creatures around her, they can only be used to a certain extent. When outmatched in magical ability, she can temporarily change her chi power into physical strength, giving her an upper edge on even the heftiest of opponents at the cost of losing all her chi powers for a period of time.

Proficient Bo Staff/Spear User: She is extremely well taught in Bo Staff fighting, which is her primary style of fighting. Her spear is almost a foot taller than she is and is made of very solid and weighty wood, but she doesn't show any difficulty in wielding it.

Through her relationship with Recon the Wolf, she learned hand-to-hand combats and marksman skills. Though she can use a gun and keeps a small one with her at all times, though it doesn't follow Lycato code of conduct, and she uses it as a last resort.

Chi Abilities:[]

  1. Spirit Staff: All Lycato receive a stick shortly after they are born, made from branches dropped by the Spirit Tree (said to be the channel between the living and spirit worlds that all souls travel through). This stick is special as it contains a soul inside of it and physically grows alongside its owner. In Lycato tradition, it is said that Mobians are born with only half of their spirit intact, and the other half is the soul found inside their spear. Because these souls are living, sentient beings, Lycato treat their staffs the way a mother would treat her newborn child, never leaving its side and protecting it from harm. This also means that breaking a Lycato spear is punishable by death as the soul dies if the spear is broken. The spear is what allows Lycato to channel their chi and connects them to the Planet Egg, not having it renders them much more inefficient using their chi.
  2. Lyce's Chosen One: On top of the special abilities granted to all the Queens, Heather has the potential for even greater power as the Messenger of the Goddess, specifically chosen by Lyce to reunite the warring Lycato and Wvelven and bring peace to Destony as a whole. When she is deemed worthy by Lyce, this power grants her:
    • Mother's Guidance: Heather's spear can manifest the souls of past Lycato royalty to aid the pair in battle, whether it be in battle or when making a big decision. Heather hasn't learned to control this power, and it seems to only work in times of great distress or helplessness.
    • Goddess Staff: Like the Royal Lycato before her, Heather can infuse her staff with Goddess Power to turn it into the Goddess Staff, which gives her immense control over the planet's chi. She can only do this when the Goddess gives her permission, and according to Heather, the Goddess is very wishy-washy and a bit of a b*tch, which has resulted in Heather not having access to it when she could really benefit from it.

Fighting Style:[]

Mother Earth's Guidance: Way of the Staff: This fighting style is taught to all Lycato kits as soon as they are old enough to hold and manipulate a stick in their hands. Lycato teachings state that the Spirit Staff is an extension of the body, mind, and spirit, NOT a weapon. You'll notice that many of its lessons are about protecting the stick from harm in the midst of combat, rather than how to attack your foe. Way of the Staff has 6 key teachings that combine to make the full fighting style.

  1. Air - Being agile and free, always moving and ready to change at a given moment. The spear and body should always be moving and be in sync, even when doing separate things. While the staff is blocking an attack, the body is repositioning itself for a more optimal counter strike.
  2. Fire - Being fierce and determined. To protect, you must be willing to attack. When you strike, you are to the point and do not hesitate, confident your strike will land true.
  3. Earth - Being strong and firm. The feet should firmly grasp the earth, and the hands must grip the spear with the intention of never losing it. When you block, you are rigid and strong, sure that the enemy's advances won't pierce your defenses.
  4. Water - Being focused and relaxed. Making no unnecessary movements, having steady and controlled breathing, and joyous spirit.

There are also 2 additional master level teachings.

  1. Heart - Being compassionate and understanding. You fight to protect, not to destroy. And when you fight, you're fighting to stop the opponent's ideals, not the opponent themselves. When a foe has the intent to hurt you, you are fighting that intent to harm with the intent
  2. Soul - Being mindful and at peace. You must not treat your spear like a foreign object. It's not a stick you've picked up off the ground, it's a life, with a spirit and a name. Protect it, and it will protect you.

It is said that when you master all 6, the two souls combine and become one. When this state has been achieved, the user can 'move' the unified soul between the body and the staff while the unoccupied vessel acts completely independently and without thought.

Moves/Attacks:[]

  • Goddess Pierce:
  • Zodiac Festival:
  • Validity Needle: Heather locates hotspots of Chi on someone's body and pokes them with Chi needles in a form of magical acupuncture. This process forces the person to tell the truth once per needle. It is painless though, according to Heather, it hurts the pride more than anything else.
  • Toxic Petal Strike (Mark of the Lycato): This move is a three-part attack that involves Heather striking her foe with her palm and projecting focused Chi energy into their body. This attack leaves a glowing, flower-shaped mark on the opponent each time she strikes. Each successful attack adds another piece of the mark, and if she lands a third hit, it completes the symbol, dealing critical damage and even paralyzing them. Heather has honed her skill to the point where she can leave the Toxic Petal mark using other parts of her body: such as her elbows, knees, and hips.
  • Chi Pull: More of a technique than an attack, Heather can pull Chi from animals, plants, and other living beings around her. She can also pull Chi from opponents, but she has to study and analyze it for a period of time before being able to do so. Likewise, she can do vice versa and give Chi away.

Weaknesses:[]

  • She is an independent soul who doesn't take criticism or advice from anyone, often ignoring the better judgement of her friends and allies.
  • She is a very avid nature lover and strongly connects with it, and sometimes the site of deforestation and mass pollution is enough to make her physically ill and weak.
  • She is very in love with herself, and she becomes very hurt or offended when someone compliments another girl in her presence. She also focused far too much on her own image, sometimes stressing herself out to the point of it being counterproductive.
  • Thanks to being royalty with constant exposure to alcohol, she can be a bit of a drunk sometimes. This trait has proven to be her most devastating weakness as she now finds herself alcohol dependent and gets withdrawals if she doesn't have any for a few days. Her constant drunkenness has led to a breakup between her and Recon after he grew tired of her passing out at random bars, being too hungover for training, and being ill-tempered and having mood swings when he tries to get her to sober up.
    • Her avid drinking also has obvious effects on her health: she cannot tap into her full strength or chi power effectively and is often considered one of the weaker members of the team despite having goddess given abilities, superhuman strength, and Gaia magic due to her unreliability.

Story:[]

Heather was unexpected forced into the role of future queen when her sister received a dream from the goddess instructing her to step out of the royal blood line and become the next shaman. Heather reluctantly gave up on her life of partying and warrior training to prepare to assume her mother's crown, when the Lycato are visited by the neighboring clan, the Wvelven. These tech savvy and battle hungry wolves came wishing to bargain for land to help feed their growing numbers but Heather's mother, Wind, saw through their lies and promptly told them to leave. The Wvelven leader, Oscar, revealed that while they had been talking several other Wvelven had snuck into the Lycato camp and placed explosives in key locations including the castle and nursery. Heather was enraged at their ruthlessness and immediately sets out to recover the weapons, tailed by the Wvelven prodigy, Recon. A stoic, calculating wolf with incredible strength and battle prowess to match his sharp wit and viciousness.

The two fight for a while with Heather being outmatched by the wolf. She tries to reason with him but he tells her that as long as the royal family cooperated, no one would be hurt. he barely got the words out when a fierce explosion rattled the earth. Oscar had apparently decided that an ultimatum was too good for the Lycato and instead decided to take the kingdom over by taking the queen hostage, threatening to detonate another of the bombs if she tried to fight back. Wind spits in the Wvelven leaders face which angers him into detonating another of the bombs, Heather had already found this one but due to Lycato's limited knowledge of technology, was unable to disarm it. Recon, whose morals where now conflicted after being lied to by Oscar about a no casualty operation, goes against his clan and takes much of the blunt of the explosion using his cybernetics to minimize the blast. This allows Heather and many other Lycato to flee, enraging Oscar. Recon is taken into custody and Heather has no choice but to flee and come back to fight another day.

Heather eventually runs into Recon again in her travels after he had been kicked out of his clan due to treason, and she tags along in his journey to grow strong enough to defeat Blade Ruger, a former Wvelven adopted panther who had since gone AWOL and hunted the wolves for sport. If Recon could bring Ruger's head, he could be accepted back into the Wvelven. Heather knew she had to grow stronger as well in order to take down the Wvelven. Both knew that at the end of their journey, they would be pitted against each other again, this time in a battle that would only end when one was killed. This made their time together very constrained and tense, but Heather still tried to connect with the lone wolf and make the most of their adventure. They trained, ate, meditated, and fought alongside each other for many long weeks. At one point they meet Rusty and Aynoa, twin porcupines who were currently possessed by an evil fire spirit. The twins attack them and easily overwhelm them with their superior speed and teamwork, but Heather is given enough Goddess Chi by the goddess to force the spirit out of Rusty's body. Heather goes to destroy the spirit, but Rusty argues that her own body was killed a long time ago and that she deserved a second chance at life. Reluctantly, Heather uses the last of the goddess chi to build the Emberman spirit a physical body, using her own body and that of Aynoa as a base. Esmerelda was born.

Heather and Recon travel with the porcupines a short while before they split off again and finally discover Ruger. Unfortunately, they are far from ready and in his anger over being challenged by such a weak pair of warriors, Ruger beats the two to near death, then stabs Heather with her own spear as a warning to Recon to never cross him again. In her verge of death coma, Heather sees the Lycato goddess Lycea for the first time and is proposed with a question, "what is the best way to defeat an opponent?" The answer would give Heather the strength to defeat the Wvelven and recover her kingdom. When she awakens, she realizes that Recon had patched her up, despite the obvious advantage leaving her to die would have given him. Heather questions the wolf's intentions and the two go on to heal up and train further.

They meet Rusty and Aynoa again who were now on a quest to find Esmerelda and their mother, both who recently disappeared. Their adventure takes them across the globe and back, eventually finding Esmerelda again along with a new face, Jay. Esmerelda reveals that she was actually originally a Mobian, whose spirit was adopted by the Emberman when she died an early death. Her adoptive father, Adawrath, took her in because of how much she reminded him of his recently deceased daughter, Zornelle. Esmerelda's step brother, Agone, was not happy about the replacement and tricked Ezzy into going back to the physical realm, where Emberman immortality loses its effect, and killed her again. Her spirit trapped in the real world, she had been hiding from Agone for years by possessing Mobian and living inside them as a phantom parasite. After Heather cut her lose from Rusty, Agone found her again and sent several Emberman spirits to posses the strongest of each clan on the planet. Recon was chosen as the Wvelven representative, and was possessed and turned against his friends. Heather remembers the question proposed by Lycea, and learns that the answer to the best way to defeat a foe is to make them your friend. (WIP TO BE CONTINUED)

Trivia:[]

  • Her appearance, personality, and abilities draw inspiration from several characters in various media, including Shantae (Shantae series), Panty Anarchy (Panty and Stocking), Princess Amalia (Wakfu), Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail), Rogue (XMEN), Ragiku Matsumoto (Bleach).
  • In Lycato culture, Lycato are often referred to with they/them pronouns. Not because of their own identification, but because the soul in their spear is distinct from the Lycato, yet it is still included when referring to them, necessitating the use of plural pronouns. This is practiced only amongst other Lycato, and they normally wouldn't correct an outsider if they made that mistake.
  • Some of the jewelry/weapons she carries are actually plants and small animals: such as a blue scarab beetle on her necklace that she can see through like a mobile camera, a snake bracelet that can be used as a lasso or whip, cherry fruits that explode like grenades, etc.
  • An interesting note about her design (specifically the one she wears in combat and inside her village) is its asymmetry and the recurring 3-point shapes. Her attire is actually split horizontally and vertically, with both halves being dedicated to her status as royalty and her dream of being a warrior.
    1. Her left side is the only side she wears jewelry on, and the right side instead has a shoulder guard, something the Queen's Guard typically wears.
    2. The upper half of her dress is covered with a warrior chest plate while the bottom is left visible.
    3. Her bangs, tail, bottom of her dress, and her crown all take the shape of a trident (referencing her spearhead shape). The base of her dress also resembles a flower bud, referencing her ability to manipulate nature.
