Appearance

Rosebud is a female fox with sky blue-colored fur and dark turquoise eyes. She has a pale white skin tone, and her fur nearly covers her entire body, including her arms. The only exceptions to this are her stomach and torso, which are covered up most of the time. As a fox, she has a fluffy tail that is white at the tip, and she has a short hairstyle the same color of her hair partially covering her left eye, along with a single bang that falls down the center of her face. Rosebud stands at 2'7, being extremely short compared to most other Mobians, and she is also moderately skinny with a weight of 70 lbs.

As for her casual attire, Rosebud's outfit is quite simple. She wears a darker blue casual day dress with a large gold ring around its center. She also wears sneakers with white at their laces and tips and blue everywhere else, as well as white gloves with golden ring cuffs.

Personality

Though she may not be all that in terms of raw power, personality-wise, Rosebud can only be described as a force of nature. Due to being raised in a household where both of her parents were doing work to actively help others, Rosebud adopted a somewhat naive but completely optimistic worldview. She is eternally optimistic and bubbly to the point where to some, it seems like pure insanity. Rosebud's optimism is unflinching, and she always has something positive to say about the situation that they are in, as she sees life in a glass half-full kind of way.

To put it simply, Rosebud loves the world. It may be a result of her being pretty sheltered from its tragedies, but Rosebud sees the world as something to experience and enjoy, and she believes if someone isn't doing that, she should try as hard as she can to try and make it better for them. This can lead to her feeling obligated to help people, even if they don't want it, which tends to come across as rather obsessive.

Rosebud also enjoys life to the fullest. A side effect of her mother constantly spoiling her is that Rosebud is always seeking out taller rollercoasters to ride, tastier food to eat, better artists to listen to, et cetera et cetera. This fits her "the world should be enjoyed" mentality, as Rosebud seizes every opportunity she can to enjoy the moment. However, somewhat hypocritically, Rosebud will not actively try to create opportunities for her to experience something. If she stays where she is, she's fine with that, as long as she makes the most of it and can continue having a good time.

Rosebud is also very naive, and this shows up possibly the most when it comes to how trusting she is. The amount of trust she puts in people is immense, and they don't really have to do much to earn it. This can lead to Rosebud being heartbroken quite easily, but it has yet to be to the point where it can really damage her emotionally. This attribute is amplified tens of times when it comes to her friends; if you befriend Rosebud, she would lay down her life for you, and she hopes- no, believes that you would do the same.

Along with that, Rosebud is insanely fearless. Partially because of her "the world is like a fairy tale" mentality and partially because of how much trust she puts in her friends or whoever she's counting on to get her out of a pickle, Rosebud does not scare easily. She would stare death in the face and blow a raspberry as long as she thought there were people willing to help her. In fact, that could even be seen as one of her key motivators - Rosebud believes she'll do well as long as she believes there are people who care about her.

Another key trait of Rosebud's is how unflinchingly persistent she is. When she's set her mind on something, it has to be rendered physically impossible for her to give up on it, and even then she might just continue towards it anyway because of her sheer will. This can be seen very different by different people; some may view it as persistence, but others might see her as extremely stubborn and hard-headed. Both are correct, and coupled with Rosebud's fearlessness, this can make her a dangerous force to reckon with if you're working against her.

Additionally, Rosebud is very chatty. Veeeeeeeery chatty. Rosebud could talk to herself for hours and not get bored. This tends to come across as either annoying or overbearing, and it doesn't help that Rosebud isn't very self-aware. However, it is somewhat remedied when you factor in how friendly Rosebud is. She isn't mean or rude to others unless they've explicitly done something to harm her, and her default is treating everyone equally with kindness, which allows her to befriend most people pretty quickly.

History

Pre-Series

Lilac Chesire Wood was born to her mother, Alice Wood, and her father, Spurge Wood, in the town of Sunset Heights. She was the younger of two twins, her twin sister being named Harvest Wood, and her parents already had another daughter a year prior to their birth named Marie Wood. While Spurge worked a casual job, being a teacher, her mother worked a more... lucrative profession. Alice was a GUN agent - quite a well-known one, too, known as the "Sunlit Samurai" because of how skilled she was with her sword, Phillaut - and had been for the past 5 years before Lilac was born, and though she was on maternity leave for a little bit of Lilac's childhood, she spent a lot of it out on missions.

The fortunate thing is, with Spurge being a schoolteacher and Alice being a GUN agent, is that Lilac got to spend a lot of time with her father growing up. When she was starting grade school, she spent a lot of time helping her father around the classroom, and with him having summers off, he was basically a stay-at-home dad, so Lilac and his siblings never felt too lonely. It also helped that Alice was paid very well, so the Wood family thrived.

When Alice was around, however, she made sure to optimize her time with her daughters as best she could, leading to her having a habit of spoiling them whenever they were together. She also would always persist on teaching her daughters "the way of the sword," but Lilac, Harvest, nor Marie were interested in the slightest. Nevertheless, their mother both spoiling them and eternally trying to convince them to learn how to fight using a sword became staples of their childhood.

Spurge loved to tend to his garden, so during one summer, at the age of 7, Lilac wanted to plant a flower herself, choosing a rose. She got seeds and planted it, but she found that Spurge spent so much time with the hose that she'd end up waiting for hours on end for him to finish with his massive garden. Irritated, Lilac went to where she'd planted her seeds and patted the ground when something strange began to happen; she ejected a small jet of water from her hands!

Surprised, Lilac immediately told her father about it, and he explained what had happened. For some odd reason, his family had always had superpowers: his mother was able to also shoot small jets of water from her hands, and his father was able to make sparks of flames rise from his. Spurge in particular got the water powers from his mother, but he didn't want to tell Lilac in case she never got them, but he was somewhat surprised to see it manifest in her as well. Since then, Lilac used her extremely weak hydrokinesis to water her own flowers, and she told the story to all of her classmates at school. They were amazed at her abilities, and after the story spread around, she was dubbed "Rosebud" and has been referred to as that ever since besides her immediate family.

During the winter of that same year, Rosebud and her family received unfortunate news that Spurge's brother, Clematis, and his wife Janet had both died after their house had burned down. They had only one daughter, Andy, who was Rosebud's cousin and only a couple of months younger than her, who would be coming to live with them from now on. Though they mourned Andy's parents and welcomed Andy with open arms, Andy was quite grouchy - understandably so, but even more than one would expect. She would completely close herself off from the rest of Rosebud's family, and when she did interact with them, it was usually with anger, yelling at them. In fact, when Rosebud was especially persistent to hang out with Andy, Andy would use the power she inherited from her father to create sparks of fire in her palms in order to shoo her off, which is how Rosebud learned of Andy's powers.

Despite Andy's apparent effort to completely ignore her new family, she would find Rosebud and Harvest in particular hard to avoid due to the fact that they were all in the same grade. Two years after Andy moved in with Rosebud's family, a new kid entered the school named Platinum Foehn the Goat, and he was relentlessly bullied by a recurring group of boys because of his peculiar wind powers that were similar to Rosebud's water powers. While Rosebud's powers were seen as "cool," partially because of her demeanor and the age she introduced them to her peers, the goat was shy, always anxious, and quite antisocial, which made him an easy target for bullies.

Rosebud saw this as a great bonding opportunity for her and Andy and confronted her cousin about it, saying that it flat-out wasn't right for Platinum to be treated in such a way and the two of them were the perfect people to put a stop to it, due to the fact that they both had powers as well, but Andy didn't share her enthusiasm, saying that if it really bothered him, he could deal with it himself. The two bickered over the issue for a bit, but eventually, Rosebud gave up on trying to convince Andy and decided to intervene herself, telling the bullies that bullying Platinum just because he was different was wrong, and they should feel bad and apologize to him!

...it didn't work.

Rosebud, because of her unwillingness to let Platinum be mistreated, succeeded in making the bullies back off, but as a result she was ostracized in most of her grade's social circles. Even Harvest, her own sister, tried to somewhat reinvent Rosebud's social status, but Rosebud said that she was fine with not being included and that she wouldn't want Harvest to feel obligated to do the same thing. Now that her and Platinum were both at the bottom of the social totem pole, they got to bond, and even though Rosebud's personality was dominating compared to the meek Platinum's, they found comfort in one another.

Andy, having witnessed Rosebud's resolve, felt bad about not assisting her earlier and decided to take things into her own hands. Andy wreaked havoc on all of Platinum's bullies and anyone who had spoken ill of Rosebud, beating them all up without effort and earning herself a three-week suspension from school. Though Andy refused to say it out loud, this was her apology to Rosebud, and Rosebud knew it. Now, the trio of Rosebud, Andy and Platinum had befriended each other, and since most of the rest of the grade was more than happy to leave them in isolation, they quickly became each other's best friends.

It was a little after this incident when Andy decided to finally open up to Rosebud. She explained that her house burning down wasn't just bad luck - actually, Andy wasn't surprised that it had happened at all. Clematis and Janet, her parents, didn't get along at all. They would spent most of their time together arguing, and sometimes even physically hurting each other, or using Andy to make the other feel bad. Andy had to watch this marriage of pure hatred for years until it exploded when Clematis lost control of his fire powers during an especially emotional argument and burned their house down, both of them fighting all the while and neither of them even thinking about Andy, who managed to narrowly escape while the burning house collapsed on them both.

Andy explained that the fact that her own fire powers had to constantly remind her of her parents, combined with seeing how loving of a family Rosebud had really set Andy off, which was the explanation for her behavior for her early time in the household. Nonetheless, Andy apologized profusely for her unfairness, and Rosebud forgave her, though she told Andy that she should probably tell the rest of the family this information as well. Andy refused to confess, but admitted she should probably apologize to everyone, and she did.

For the rest of their time, Rosebud, Platinum, and Andy remained close friends in Sunset Heights, dubbed the "Power Trio" by their classmates and unwavering in their loyalty to one another.

Powers, Skills and Abilities

Rosebud's most prominent power is her hydrokinesis, which she inherited from her father. Though untrained and weak, Rosebud can still use it to either faintly control existing water or generate water from her very being, usually from her palms. Currently, this has little to no combat applications, but Rosebud still finds uses for it; watering flowers, giving herself water when she's thirsty, playing pranks on people by shooting water jets from her fingers, and using it to allow her to swim with ease, to name a few.

Rosebud has talents besides her hydrokinesis, however. For one, she is a very good singer, as her voice is very soft, and she's a pretty good actor as well. When it comes to acting in particular, Rosebud excels when playing characters who are supposed to be loud, showy and dramatic, which leads to her having a habit of overacting when not in roles such as that.

Rosebud is also a very proficient roller skater and ice skater. As a result, she is very good at keeping her balance, even when distracted. In fact, Rosebud's so used to thinking fast or talking all the time that usually she is distracted when skating, which raises the question of how well she would do if she was actually focused.
