We start our story on the central island in the Daqx Archipelago in the kingdom of Draconer. We join prince Dylan Moonit, or Blade as he likes to be called as he gets ready for a special day. He was getting dressed and brushing the fur on his bunny tail when a knock came at his door.

Blade answered the door and standing there was a young chameleon, about age six with a wide smile. This was Blade’s adopted son: Jake. “Daddy, are you almost ready?” He asked his dad. “Jake, what did I say about rushing me?” Blade asked. “Sorry daddy, but papa said if you don’t hurry up, he’ll do it himself.” Jake relayed.
  +
  +
“Uh huh, and how does your papa expect to get married without me?” Blade asked, chuckling. “I don’t know, but that’s what he said.” Jake answered without a care in the world. “Ok, go tell him i’ll be out in a minute.” Blade relented. “Gotcha.” Jake said before speeding out of the room and slamming the door. Blade couldn’t help but laugh. “That kid is something else.” He said laughing.
  +
  +
As he got back to getting ready, there was a knock on the door. He sighed in defeat and opened it and there before him was his mother: Queen Sophina. She let herself in and looked at him. “Dylan, you look so handsome.” She noted. “Thank you mother.” He said with a nod. “I am so proud of you for finding love and someone to spend your life with.” She continued.
  +
  +
“Really? Not how I remember you feeling when I first introduced you to him.” Blade said with a slight frown.  “I apologize dear, it was quite a shock to your father and me.” She said remorsefully. “I know, you weren’t expecting me to fall in love with another guy, neither did I really.”He said as he noticed the sorrowful look on her face.
  +
  +
“Regardless, we are sorry for how we acted and can’t wait to see how you two rule the kingdom together.” She told him, giving him a warm hug. Blade hugged her back, then she excused herself as she left and he smiled. “Ok, enough wasting time. Let’s do this.” He said, grabbing his jacket. He put it on as he walked down the hallway to the chapel.
  +
  +
Soon enough, he was at the door and took a minute to breathe. As he was doing so, he heard a deep voice call out to him. He turned around and standing there was his father: King Francis, with a neutral look on his face. “Father.” Blade said with a gulp. Francis looked at his son, his face not changing expression. “Say something, please.” Blade said, slightly frightened.
  +
  +
“Good luck my son, and treat him well.” Francis told him. “What?” Blade asked in shock. “You heard me. He is your chosen and you must treat him with the love and respect he deserves, That is a future king’s first and most important duty.” Francis said with a commanding tone. “I will father. You have my promise.” Blade agreed. “Then that is all.” Francis replied before giving his son a pat on the back before going to join the rest of the guests.
  +
  +
Blade breathed a sigh of relief before opening the door and looking around. All of his closest friends and family were seated and looking at the front of the chapel. Blade looked too and saw him: Markk, his soon to be husband. Blade gave a nod to himself and walked down the aisle. Sure enough, he reached the end and stood across from Markk who was smirking.
  +
  +
Markk whispered to him, “What took you so long? Nerves?” He asked. “Something like that.”Blade whispered back. “Ahem” The priest said, getting their attention, to which both stood straight. “We are here today to join our beloved Prince Dylan Moonit in matrimony, if there be anyone who objects, speak now or forever hold your tongue.” The priest began.
  +
  +
Francis got up, turned around and glared at the room. Not a single person got up and so he sat back down. “Very well. Dylan, do you take Markk to be your husband, to rule with, to love and to never take for granted?” The priest asked, “I do.” Blade answered with a nod. The priest then turned to Markk. “And do you take Dylan to be your husband, to rule with, to love and to never take for granted?” He asked.
  +
  +
‘Of course.” Markk answered with a thumbs up. “Then by the power invested in me by the Church of Daqx, I now declare you Prince and Prince. You may solidify your union with the traditional ritual of marriage.” The priest concluded.
  +
  +
Blade and Markk stepped forward, stomped on a piece of glass, took a shard each and swapped them before kissing. To which many guests started cheering,  Sophina began crying and Francis consoled her. Jake started jumping up and down in glee. The priest said his dues and left just in time for the newly wed couple to come up for air.
  +
  +
Blade took Markk’s hand and the two ran out of the chapel while the cheering continued. The two went to a terrace and looked over the kingdom. “So, we’re married now.” Blade said, taking a moment to fully realize it. “Yep, took a while though.” Markk replied. “Sorry.” Blade apologized. “Don’t need to be sorry. Just enjoy it.” Markk said, giving him a playful punch in the shoulder.
  +
  +
“Who would have thought this is where we would be last year when we first met?” Markk asked rhetorically. “Yeah, that wasn't that long ago, was it?” Blade asked. “You remember how?” Markk asked him. “Yep, I had just transferred to your city’s school and you were getting bullied, so I decided to step in.” Blade started.
  +
  +
“Even though it was none of your business and I beat you up afterwards for getting involved.” Markk continued for him. “But if you hadn’t…” Blade said before getting cut off. “Yeah yeah, we never would have fallen for each other. I know.” Markk stated. “I love you.” Blade said, turning to face Markk. “I love you too. Probably more than you do me.” Markk said with a wink. The two kissed once more, but this time it was quicker as Blade noticed how long they had been out.
  +
  +
“Come on, we should probably go to the reception. I doubt mother and father would like us to keep them waiting.”Blade said, grabbing Markk’s hand. “Sure thing. Let’s get to it. Then after, it’s time for the honeymoon.” Markk agreed, squeezing his hand. “Of course that’s where your mind went.” Blade said, shaking his head sarcastically as he took off. “Oh, you know you love it.” Markk said, running with him to the dining hall.

Story 1. Jamming in the Sky

Major Characters: Owen Hope, Rhys Jenkins, Javis Geiger, Naoko Ayashi.

Minor Characters: Donkor Essa, Eroua Ces.

Narrator: It was a normal day in Mayak, well sort of normal. It wasn’t everyday that a famous band was flying on a public plane. Granted, it was only two of them, but hey. These were the band’s leaders: Owen Hope and Rhys Jenkins. Let’s see what happened on this particular flight.

The human Owen had just gotten back from the bathroom and sat down next to Rhys, his hedgehog best friend who was writing away on a notepad. He looked over and smiled. “Yes?” Rhys asked, facing him. “What are you doing pal?” Owen asked innocently. “I’m going over the stuff we need for tomorrow’s concert, one of us has to.” Rhys told him with a stern frown before going back to his notepad.

“Oh you’re no fun.” Owen said, sitting back in his chair pouting. “By the way, did you ever write that song you promised you would?” Rhys asked not looking up. Suddenly, Owen felt nervous. “Um, uh, well, you see.” He started before getting cut off. “You forgot, typical.” Rhys said, just shaking his head.

“Oh relax, here i’ll do it now, and i’ll video chat some of the guys to help me.” Owen told him as he pulled out a laptop. He turned it on and clicked on the video chat app. He then sent an invite to the other eleven members of the group and waited.

In almost no time, he got a response from his friend Naoko, a particularly scatterbrained raccoon and so accepted the call. Naoko appeared on the screen strumming his electric guitar. “Heya Owen, what’s up?” Naoko asked. “Hey, I forgot to write that song and I was wondering if you would mind helping me with the instrumentation and maybe some of the lyrics.” Owen explained.

“Ok sure, just let me add Javis to this call. I was already talking to him anyway.” Naoko said as he put his guitar down. He then looked around and tilted his head. “What was I doing?” He asked. Rhys groaned before leaning over into the camera’s view. “Javis.” He said. Naoko looked up and gasped. “Right, sorry.” He said as he quickly rushed to add Javis.

Javis appeared on screen in front of his drum set. The fox had clearly been jamming out as he was sweating a ton. “Hello friends, did you have need of me?” He asked, wiping his sweat away. “Yeah, we’re about to write the song that Owen forgot to do, can you help?” Naoko asked. Javis looked at Owen. “Yeah, he he.” Owen chuckled embarrassed. “Very well. Where do we start?” Javis asked.

“I was thinking that you two could handle the instrumentation, so me and Rhys could handle the lyrics.” Owen said nodding. “Makes sense to me, you two write great lyrics.” Javis agreed. “Yeah, don’t worry about us.” Naoko added.

And so the pairs got to work. While Naoko and Javis worked on their part, Owen and Rhys started brainstorming lyrics. “What kind of song do we want this to be?” Rhys asked tapping his pencil against his head. “We haven’t done a retro song in a few months, maybe that?” Owen asked. Rhys wrote something down and looked back at Owen. “Name?” He asked him.

“We’re All In This Together.” Owen said without thinking. “Good.” Rhys agreed. “So I was thinking we could segue the drums into a short guitar riff.” Naoko told Javis who was nodding his head as he practiced a beat on his drums. Suddenly the video call was interrupted by a chat request from their bandmate Eroua.

“Let’s just get this over with.” Rhys groaned as he leaned over to accept the call. He pressed the accept button and the echidna stood there looking dead into the camera over on his side. “Hey, can you guys hear me?” Eroua asked. “We can see you too.” Naoko said laughing. “Great, so I was wondering what time Owen and Rhys were getting back.” He said tapping his foot with impatience.

“Our plane didn’t arrive at the airport until it was like two hours behind schedule, so we might not be getting back until maybe midnight if not later.” Rhys answered. “Oh, well. Could you maybe tell the pilot to go faster? If you guys aren’t here in time, we may have to go on without you tomorrow.” Eroua replied. “I’m sure they will be, don’t worry.” Javis chimed in.

“Ok, well they better is all i’m saying.” Eroua scoffed. “Bye Eroua, see you when we get back.” Owen said before hanging up on him. “Thank you, now let’s get back to writing these lyrics.” Rhys instructed. Javis and Naoko went back to their part as well.

An hour had passed before Owen threw his hands up in boredom. “I’m bored of writing lyrics.” He said. “Come on, we’ve only gotten the first pre-chorus and the chorus done. We still have more to write.” Rhys told him. “Maybe you guys should take a break and listen to what we’ve done.” Javis said, trying to ease the tension. The two on the plane nodded in agreement and looked at the laptop.

Javis and Naoko began playing a small bit of what sounded like an 80’s era pop track. Once they finished, they looked at their friends. “Well??” Naoko asked, pressing his face to his screen. Owen and Rhys looked at each other and gave a smile which let the other two know they liked it. While Naoko felt proud of himself and Javis was continuing his beat, Owen was forced by Rhys to set back down and continue brainstorming lyrics. “Fine, fine, I just want to get this over with.” He said getting antsy.

Another hour passed before they were all interrupted again as a video call request came up, this time it was their friend Donkor. Owen took this as a chance to have a break, so he pressed accept. The exotic snake stood there in his usual dancer costume and looked at them. “Um, hey guys. I was just er wondering what kind of um routines you wanted for the concert tomorrow.” He said nervously.

“Donkor buddy, we trust you one hundred percent to do what you think is good.” Owen told him. “Yeah, you have never let us down before.” Naoko added. “You can do it Donkor, you always do.” Javis said gently. “I don’t know, you all chose so many different songs that it’s hard to come up with good routines for all of them.” Donkor said hanging his head.

He looked at his off-screen feet and began tapping them. This soon evolved into a short dance as he worked out his unease. The other four watched in awe as they never got tired of his dances. Soon Donkor finished with a split and stood up. “Rhys, I think that dance would be perfect for the new song. “Javis stated.

“Agreed, keep working on your dance and we’ll get back to you later.” Rhys said before looking at Donkor. “Ok, will do. Talk later.”The now excited snake said before leaving the call. “Ok, now back to song stuff without distraction, Donkor’s dance has invigorated me.” Owen ordered. The pairs got back to work and this continued on until the last hour before midnight.

Everybody had finished their jobs and they compiled the song together. Owen cued Naoko and Javis to start and they began playing their guitar and drums. Owen began to sing. “No two flames will burn the same, together they ignite. We’re not here to play your games, we’re here to make it right.” He started before Rhys took over.

“Yeah we understand and we’re not afraid to fight, now you know our plan. We’re taking over tonight.” He sang. “Cause we’re all in this together and we’re never backing down, yeah things are getting better cause we’re turning this around” Naoko sang next as he strummed. “We’re all in this together, even if you’re far from home. Nothing else will even matter.” Javis sang as he pounded his drums.

“Cause you’ll never be, you’ll never be alone.”All four sang together. They all stopped and heard applause from the people on the plane. After taking a moment to bow, Owen began clapping with excitement. This didn’t last as Rhys showed him a web search containing those exact lyrics and instrumentals. “Wait, it’s already been done? So we wasted all that time?” Owen asked in shock.

Naoko and Javis looked nervous. “So um, we’re gonna leave you to it, see you when you get back.” Naoko said before hanging up. “I apologize for leaving you like this.” Javis said before he too hung up. “Oh great.” Owen said angrily. “Well, nothing we can do but brainstorm a new song. We still have an hour before we land.” Rhys told him.

“What? No. No more.”Owen said before Rhys dragged him into the bathroom for some privacy.

Narrator: That’s it for this tale. I apologize for the length but I shall not skip any important story details. But I promise I shall try to find a shorter story next. That’s all for now.

Story 2. A Treat in the Summer Heat

Main Characters: Branch Redd, Rebecca Haskin, and Tracey Vetaq.

Minor Character: Forst Syth,

Narrator: Hello again, come for another story have you? Well I will tell you the story of one very hot summer day that i can recall.

We begin our story in the city of Sheshore, it was the middle of summer and the heat was near its peak. On any ordinary day, most residents would stay in and enjoy some crisp air conditioning. But for one, it was not meant to be. His name is Branch.

The reindeer, Branch was sitting in the house of one of his babysitting charges: a young cheetah girl named Rebecca Haskin. Her parents had to go to work and he was being paid well to watch her, but this was no easy task as Rebecca wasn’t an average girl, she was in fact a psychic and was in the middle of reading his mind.

“You’re thinking about how hot it is outside.” Rebecca told him. Branch looked at her, and just nodded his head without a word. “Knew it, I am the master at mind reading.” She said proudly. She sat next to him with a smile and he didn’t say a word. So, she stared at him for several minutes without him saying anything and she groaned.

“Come on, say something. You’re supposed to keep me entertained.” She told him getting irritated. “Sorry, I’m just trying to cool down.” Branch apologized. “If you really want to apologize, then let’s do something fun.” She said getting up. Branch got up too and looked at her. “Um, like what?” He asked.

“Well, how about we get some ice cream?” She asked. Branch ruffled through his sweater pockets and came across some money, he then looked at her and nodded again. Rebecca jumped for joy and ran to her front door throwing it open and letting the warm air in which caused Branch to yelp in surprise.

Standing there in the doorway however was Tracey, Branch’s best friend. The salamander looked at both of them and shook his head. “Rebecca, are you pushing Branch around again?” He asked her. “No, he’s taking me out for ice cream.” She said with a pout. Tracey looked at Branch again who showed him the money. “Well ok, here let me go with you guys then.” He said inviting himself.

Rebecca didn’t give time to debate before leaving herself. Tracey grabbed Branch’s hand and the two left to follow her. As the trio were heading to the ice cream shop, Rebecca started running faster than the two could walk, so Tracey let go of Branch’s hand and went to chase after her. “Hold on there missy.” He said as he broke into a run. Branch was left to chase after them and could only go so far before burning up.

Eventually, he had to stop to cool down, so he took a seat on a bench and relaxed. What he didn’t notice was that someone was also on the bench. This was Forst, an arctic wolf who was a classmate of Branch’s. She looked up from her magazine and noticed him. “Oh, Branch. I haven’t seen you since summer break began, how are you doing darling?” She asked. “Uh, I'm good. A bit too hot, but still.” Branch answered nervously. “I am so sorry to hear that sugar, if there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.” She said putting her magazine away.

“Thanks, I will be alright in a second.. I think.” He replied panting like a dog at this point. "“Well, if you’re sure. Then I will see you at Professor Karma’s class tomorrow for our summer homework study.” She said getting up. “Sure, sure.” He agreed. “Then maybe afterwards, we can go out and have some dinner?”She asked. “Um.. uh.” He said surprised. “Great, what an honor for you. Ciao.” She said as she waved goodbye and then walked away.

He then took a few minutes to cool down before getting back to his task. He soon caught up with Rebecca and Tracey just outside the ice cream shop. “About time you got here, Branch, I was about to call mom and dad and tell them you ditched me.” Rebecca pouted. “Come on Becca, let’s give him a break. You know he’s bad in hot weather.” Tracey said, taking note of the surprised face on Branch.

“Oh fine. Come on, let’s get some before the store runs out.” Rebecca shrugged before letting herself in the store. Tracey walked over to Branch. “What happened?” He asked. “Bench. Forst. Homework. Date?” Branch explained. “Ah, another one of her schemes to get you to go out with her. Say no more.” Tracey replied as he helped his friend inside the shop.

Inside of the shop was cool and relaxing, which was just what the trio needed. Rebecca was impatient as the line got shorter and shorter before they were up. “What can I get you?” The employee asked. “I want a Blueberry Bar.” Rebecca told him. “Mint Strawberry please.” Tracey said. “And, Nut Burst for me, if it’s ok.” Branch requested. “Coming up, go take a seat.” The employee said as they went to the back.

The trio sat down at a table and waited. “This is going to taste so good, especially since Branch is paying for it.” Rebecca hummed. “Why do you let her do this to you?” Tracey asked. Branch just sighed and said. “Because I need the babysitting money.” Soon, the employee came with their ice cream and sat them down. Branch gave them the money and they began to eat.

“Oh, this is so yummy.” Rebecca gushed. Tracey laughed and ate some of his. “Not as yummy as mine I bet.”He winked. “Mine is pretty good too.” Branch said quietly. “Sometimes I wish you would be more outspoken buddy.” Tracey told him. “Sorry.” Branch apologized. “Well, I think Branch as he is.” Rebecca retorted. “Thanks.” Branch said with a smile as he continued eating.

Narrator: And so, the friends ate their ice cream together and escaped the heat, if only for a little while. A good time for such a cool treat.  The End.
